We are hiring
Applications are now open for a Maara kai caretaker at Omaka Marae
Are you green fingered, and love getting stuck in getting your hands dirty?
The marae is a thriving community with a lot going on. Earlier this year it developed the maara kai (edible garden) where we grow produce for Manaaki - kamokamo, apples, citrus. We also have raised veggie beds and space for whanau to grow veggies.
We are looking for someone for the season who can give the maara kai regular attention and care.
The purpose of this role is to look after the Maara kai at the Omaka Marae so that we have abundant crops for the production of Manaaki.
The time required is approx 2-3 hours per week.
The work includes looking after the kamokamo plantings, apples and lemon trees.
Liaising with Pa kids about planting and harvesting.
Looking after our compost.
Liaising with the Marae community about using the raised beds and helping out with working bees. Contribute to Manaaki's social media pages.
